1. Use CivicVoice for its civic purpose
You may use CivicVoice to report genuine public-service issues, add relevant evidence, follow responses, contribute constructive local knowledge and recognise public servants who deliver. Do not use it for private disputes, commercial promotion, party campaigning or personal vendettas.
2. Respect every person
Disagreement is allowed; degradation is not. You must not post or submit:
- shaming, humiliation, bullying, harassment or targeted intimidation;
- vulgar, obscene, profane or sexually explicit language or material;
- hate speech or attacks based on tribe, ethnicity, race, nationality, religion, sex, gender, disability or another protected characteristic;
- threats, celebration of harm, incitement to violence or instructions for wrongdoing;
- another person's private contact, identity, health, financial or family information without a lawful and necessary reason;
- knowingly false accusations, fabricated evidence, impersonation, manipulated media, rumours presented as fact, spam or coordinated manipulation.
3. Be accurate and fair
Share firsthand facts where possible, distinguish fact from opinion, describe one issue clearly, and correct material mistakes. Criticise conduct, decisions and service outcomes—not a person's dignity. Civic Stars must reflect a genuine service experience and must not be bought, coordinated or used as political endorsement.
4. Evidence and permissions
Only upload material you have the right to share. Avoid exposing bystanders, children, victims or sensitive documents. By submitting content, you allow CivicVoice to store, review, display where appropriate, and share relevant material with responsible institutions for the platform's civic purpose.
5. Moderation and enforcement
Public contributions may be screened and reviewed. CivicVoice may withhold, edit for privacy, reject, remove or preserve content; limit features; suspend accounts; and refer credible threats or unlawful activity to appropriate authorities. Automated signals assist moderation but do not make the final publication decision. We aim to apply rules consistently and allow context to be considered.
6. Accounts and security
Provide accurate account information, protect your credentials and notify us if your account may be compromised. Email accounts must complete verification. You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless you promptly report unauthorised access.
7. Platform availability and public information
CivicVoice supports accountability but does not guarantee that an institution will respond or that every submission will be verified, published or resolved. Public dashboards and Civic Stars provide context, not legal findings, official audits or political endorsements.
8. Changes and contact
We may update these terms to reflect legal, safety or service changes. Continued use after an effective-date update means you accept the revised terms. Questions may be sent through the developer contact page.
